Overview

Got a Guy Home Network LLC ("Guy," "we," "us," or "our") operates hiimguy.com and the Guy SMS service. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

We built this product to help neighbors share trusted contractors privately. Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared outside the platform without your explicit consent.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you use the Guy SMS bot:

• Your mobile phone number
• Your name and zip code
• Contractor names, phone numbers, categories, and notes you submit
• Prices you paid for services
• Ratings and reviews you leave
• Messages you send to and through Guy
• Photos you send for diagnosis — images are processed by our AI vision service and are not stored permanently. If you explicitly consent, a photo may also be forwarded via MMS to a contractor you choose to contact.

When you subscribe:

• Payment information processed by Stripe (we never store your card details directly)
• Billing address

When you use Family Care Mode:

• Phone numbers of family members you add to your network
• Information about a parent or loved one's home and contractor history that you choose to share

Information Collected Automatically

• Message timestamps and delivery status via Twilio
• Basic usage data — which features you use, when, and how often
• Error logs when something goes wrong

Information from Third Parties

• Business name and location data from Google Places API when you add a contractor
• Payment status from Stripe

How We Use Your Information

To operate the service:

• Respond to your SMS messages
• Save and retrieve your contractor catalog
• Match you with relevant pros in your network
• Route messages between you and contractors through the relay system

To protect you:

• Analyze quotes you submit against market data
• Detect pressure tactics and suspicious contractor behavior
• Alert family members in Family Care Mode when something looks wrong

To improve the service:

• Understand which features are used most
• Fix bugs and errors
• Build aggregate, anonymized market pricing data for quote analysis

To bill you:

• Process subscription payments through Stripe
• Send receipts and billing notifications

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not share your contractor notes, prices paid, or personal messages with anyone outside your explicitly chosen network.

SMS & Mobile Privacy

By texting START to (224) 505-2833, you consent to receive SMS messages from Got a Guy Home Network LLC. The following applies to information collected through our SMS service:

• No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
• Mobile phone numbers collected through the SMS opt-in are used solely to operate the Got a Guy service, including sending contractor recommendations, quote alerts, photo diagnoses, service updates, and billing notifications.
• Message frequency varies based on your usage; a typical user receives 1–10 messages per week.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• You may opt out at any time by texting STOP. You may text HELP for assistance.
• Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchase.

How We Share Information

Within Your Network

Information you add to a group is visible to other members of that group. Your name is attached to your recommendations — this is intentional and core to how trust works in Got a Guy. Other members see your first name and street or neighborhood, never your phone number unless you choose to share it directly.

With Contractors

When you initiate contact with a contractor through Guy's relay system, the contractor receives your job description and general location. They do not receive your phone number unless both parties explicitly opt in to number sharing.

Photos (consent-gated): If you send a photo for diagnosis and then ask Guy to connect you with a pro, Guy will ask: "Would you like me to share your photo with the pro?" Your photo is only forwarded if you explicitly say yes. If you say no, the photo stays private and the connection proceeds without it.

With Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate Got a Guy:

Each provider processes only the data necessary to perform their specific function. We have data processing agreements in place with each.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

Business Transfer

If Got a Guy is acquired, transferred, or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via SMS before your data is subject to a materially different privacy policy.

Data Retention

Your catalog and account data is retained as long as your account is active. If you text STOP or request deletion, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Aggregate, anonymized market pricing data derived from your submissions may be retained indefinitely.

Message logs are retained for 90 days for debugging and support purposes, then deleted.

Billing records are retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations.

Family Care Mode data — a parent's contractor catalog shared with a child — is deleted when either party requests it or closes their account.

Children's Privacy

Got a Guy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at help@hiimguy.com.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data storage on AWS, TLS for all data in transit, and access controls that limit who on our team can see your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will notify you via SMS before the changes take effect. Continued use of Guy after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
